Little Kicks Program

WAM United Soccer Club offers it's "Little Kicks" instructional clinic for players age 3 through age 6 in both the Fall and Spring seasons. The instructional clinic is typically held on Saturday mornings for ~1 hour. The program introduces young players to basic soccer skills, concepts, and rules of the game. Instructional clinic sessions focus on a skill or game concept through fun and engaging games and activities. Most clinic sessions end in small sided scrimmages with players of similar age and skill. Clinic scrimmages are played with mini goals and without goalies.

Director & Staff

Marisa Abegg, Little Kicks DirectorThe clinic is led and coached by Marisa Abegg, Little Kicks Director. Marisa played at Stanford University from 2005-2008 while also competing for the U-20 and U-23 USWNTs. She was then drafted into the NWSL and played for one season on the Bay Area Gold Pride and one season on the Washington Freedom of the WPS. During this time she also was coaching for local soccer clubs in the DC metro area, primarily for kids ages 3-12. She played her final games with the Washington Spirit in the NWSL before hanging up her cleats and becoming a graduate assistant for the Florida State University Seminoles Women's soccer team during their National Championship season in 2014. Since then, she has been working as a Physical Therapist and continues to pursue her passion of soccer through coaching.

Local middle and high school soccer players serve as small group assistant coaches.

Little Kicks Philosophy

The Little Kicks Program believes that having fun, learning about teamwork and cooperation, and developing motor and cognitive skills are crucial in child development for preschoolers and young children. Little Kicks develops these skills within the framework of a soccer clinic focusing on basic soccer skills. Little Kicks prioritizes FUN - the more fun it is now, the more likely your child will will develop a lifelong love for soccer and sport.
