Coaching/ Assistant Coaching/ Team Managers:
These positions involve player interactions, therefore, anyone that would like to become involved in one of these roles will need the following:
1) Safesport training (Refresher course annually)
2) Background check (must renew every two years)
3) Register as a volunteer on our website under the intended team. (Need to register every season)
This will be of no cost to our volunteers. Please go to our coaches corner for more information and links.
Any questions regarding the process, please reach out to our Volunteer coordinator, Megan Gagnon [email protected].
Coaching:
We are always in need of coaches for our teams, and this is only successful if we have volunteers come forward. Although this position should have some soccer knowledge, coaching experience is not necessary. Our Coaching Director, Greg Devito, is an amazing resource and can help with practice structure or drill ideas.
We understand that family and work schedules can be crazy and it is hard to commit time each week. As a coach, you will be able to pick your days/times that would fit into your schedule. We also try to team you up with assistant coaches and team managers to help with any previous obligations you may already have scheduled.
There is a coaching meeting and a schedulers meeting (for games) that you will need to attend at the beginning of each season.
Assistant Coaching:
This position is very important as a supportive role to our coaches. We need these volunteers to help run drills at practices and keep the players focused. As we know, schedules can be hard, and our coaches may need assistants to help step in on occasion. The more help on a team, the better the success for the team.
Team Managers:
A team manager is another way volunteers can help take some of the work load off of the coaches. They can help with team communication- such as team emails regarding game schedules, weather updates, team parties, etc. The team manager can also set up an app such as Spond or Gamechanger to help with communication. The volunteer doesn't necessarily have to be at practices, but on site help is always appreciated. There's always a cleat that needs to be tied or a child that needs to be walked across the lot for the bathroom :-)
